Who we are

This site is run by Syon, a company registered in England and Wales (company number 08954806), whose registered office is at 7a Abbey Business Park, Monks Walk, Farnham, Surrey, GU9 8HT. We are the controller of the personal data described here.

What we collect

When you send an enquiry

The contact form asks for your name, email address and message, and optionally your company and telephone number. We also record which of our services you came from and the page you were on, so we know what you were reading when you got in touch.

We use this to reply to you and to discuss the work you are asking about. The lawful basis is our legitimate interest in answering enquiries, and, where it leads to work, taking steps at your request before entering into a contract.

Each enquiry is emailed to our team when it arrives. We currently use MailTrap to send emails.

Analytics

We use Umami to count visits and see which pages are read. Umami does not use cookies, does not build a profile of you, and does not store your IP address. Requests go to our own domain rather than to a third party. Our Umami Cloud instance is hosted in the EU.

Cookies

The site sets two cookies: a session cookie, and a security token that protects the contact form against forged submissions. Both are strictly necessary for the site to work and expire after two hours without activity. The session record on our server holds your IP address and browser type for the same period. We set no advertising or tracking cookies.

Server logs

Like any web server, ours records requests, including IP addresses, to keep the site secure and diagnose faults. They are generally kept for up to 14 days, sometimes longer if we are investigation a potential issue.

What we do not do

We do not sell your data, share it for marketing, or add you to a mailing list because you sent an enquiry. Fonts and scripts are served from our own domain, so reading this site does not tell Google or anyone else that you visited.

Who else sees it

Only the providers that host the site and deliver our email, acting on our instructions. These are:

How long we keep it

Enquiries are deleted after our last contact with you, unless they lead to work, in which case they form part of the client record.

Your rights

Under UK data protection law you can ask us for a copy of the data we hold about you, ask us to correct or delete it, object to how we use it, or ask us to restrict its use. Email hello@syon.com and we will respond within one month.

If you are unhappy with how we have handled your data you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk. We would appreciate the chance to put it right first.

Changes

If this policy changes, the new version will appear on this page with its date.
