The problem

Women's Aid had built their entire public facing platform using WordPress and a variety of plugins, it had no test suite, was very hard to update due to modified plugins, a sync to the CRM which often failed and their developer was leaving.

What we did

We started by focusing on the major issues so we could keep everything online and running as quickly as possible. Once we had a stable platform we looked at moving various parts out of WordPress to make it easier to update and letting it be the simple website it was supposed to be.

We then started looking at moving various parts of the website out to their own platforms such as the donations and events modules.

Where it landed

The website is now just a website, still powered by WordPress but far easier to update and keep current.

A new bespoke events platform was built on Laravel and that keeps in sync with their CRM.

Donations have been moved to a third party platform and that is now also integrated with their CRM.

“A fantastic partner across a variety of digital projects, from CRM integrations to donation and fundraising journeys. Syon is responsive, supportive, and always available when we need advice or help. One of their greatest strengths is their ability to translate complex technical challenges into straightforward, understandable language. They are friendly, collaborative, and genuinely invested in helping us achieve the best outcome. We highly value their expertise and enjoy working with them.”
